A cenotaph is a tomb or a monument erected in honour of a person or group of persons whose remains are elsewhere. The Ipoh Station Square Cenotaph (Perak War Memorial) commemorates those from Perak who died in the first and second World Wars. It is located outside Ipoh Railway Station (IRS).
Most major towns in Malaysia (including Singapore) have a Cenotaph in memory of those who died in the world wars.
This cenotaph was build and unveiled in 1927 on Armistice day. After WWII, a second dedication was added to honour 'those died in the 1939-1945 War'.
